Christmas Lights Switched On.
On Saturday night last, the Christmas lights were officially switched on in Timoleague. The Saturday previous a local crew of trusted volunteers erected the lights in position and on Saturday morning last the Christmas tree was placed in its usual location at the Cross. At 8pm a window of opportunity, weather wise, presented and a group of local carol singers gathered and sang some Christmas carols The Cross was black with people as Eamonn Barry driving the Local Coast Guard Jeep announced that Santy was on the way much to the delight of the large number of children present. Santy arrived driven in a vintage convertible car by Alan Locke and flanked on either side by two motorbikes driven by Fachtna O’Donovan and John O’Driscoll.
The lights were officially turned on by Dan and Joan Mc Carthy of Mill Street accompanied by their bundle of joy, Donal. After the formalities were over Santy lead the parade of children and adults down Abbey Street to the Community Hall where a Christmas party kindly organised by the local Tidy Towns Association was held.
Christmas Hamper Appeal
A big thank you to the many people who very generously subscribed to the Christmas Hamper fundraising appeal for Molaga Tidy Towns last week-end. All the hampers were kindly sponsored by local people and businesses and members of the tidy towns committee helped by many other local volunteers sold tickets in some inclement weather on Friday and Saturday. Sincere thanks also to those who saw to it that nobody left the hall thirsty or hungry on Saturday night.
