IHL V Aghabullogue
July 10, 2019
Argideen Rangers welcomed Aghabullogue to Timoleague last Saturday evening for their penultimate intermediate hurling league game. In ideal conditions for hurling, it was the home team that started brightly and raced into the lead. Clever use of the ball from Seán Maxwell and Matty Lawton in mid field, smart play from Finny Butler and loads of pace from John Sheehan helped the home side settle into the game. Paudie Butler dominated centre back and scored two monstrous points from play. One of which was a beauty as he controlled a quick delivery from a free in the air and, without breaking stride, split the western posts from the bank sideline. At the short whistle the home side led ten points to seven. However, the men from Coachford took over for the first 10 mins of the second half and drew level. Were it not for some smart saves from Dylan Harrington and good cover from the fullback line, the game might have taken a different path. The introduction of fresh legs with ten minutes to go re energised Argideen and Eoin Holland won a penalty which John Michael O' Callaghan neatly slotted home. Further points from John Michael again, Michael O' Callaghan and John Sheehan sealed the league points.
