Christmas Carol Service
The Christmas Carol Service organised by the Timoleague Parish Pastoral Council was held at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Timoleague on Sunday night last. The church was full and the congregation was not disappointed with the variety of the programme on offer. Each window was decorated with lighted candles and the lighting was toned down. A number of large lanterns were strategically positioned throughout the church and the lighted candles inside gave a true Winter Christmas atmosphere to the setting.
The national school children from Clogagh and Timoleague performed beautifully with a rendition of some favourite Christmas Carols. The school band from Timoleague gave a number of recitals and the variety of the musical instruments added to the enjoyment. A number of readings with biblical themes were also included along with some seasonal poetry and Christmas reflections. The Timoleague Folk Choir was also in fine voice and a number of solo performances throughout the evening were enthusiastically received.
At the end of the ceremonies, both Fr. Hickey and Fr. O’Leary were presented with a Christmas wreath by the school children.
