Victory Celebration
April 13, 2018
Argideen Rangers GAA club held a victory celebration at Monk’s Lane recently mark the club’s victory in last season’s county junior “B” football championship. The junior “C” hurlers who won the West-Cork were also honoured on the night. Guests of honour were Kevin O’Donovan, vice-chairperson of the County Board and Joe Crowley, chairman of the West Cork Board. Newly appointed cathaoirleach of Argideen Rangers, Angela O’Donovan proved a very capable MC on the night. Before the presentation of medals, a key note address was delivered by Barry Harte. He stressed the importance of winning at county and divisional level and stressed that occasions such as these should be savoured by the players. There was a time he reminded his young audience when Timoleague did not have a hurling team and were struggling at football level. Thankfully those days are consigned to the past.
Football manager - coach Michael O’Callaghan introduced each player with a light- hearted curriculum vitae as they were presented with their medals by club legend Barry. Hurling manager Emmett Harrington did likewise with the exponents of the small ball.
All present were lavish in their praise of the management and staff of Monk’s Lane and remarked that it was extra special to have an award -winning restaurant in which to celebrate such an event in home territory.
