Argideen Rangers were second best to Castlehaven last Sunday evening in Rossmore in the opening round of the junior football championship. Argideen got off to a poor start and were down 1:05 to 0:01 at the first quarter water break. They came back into the game thanks to fine play from Andrew Guinivan, Darragh Holland and Oisín Dowling up front to trail by 4 points at half time. Some wayward shooting and a penalty conceded put paid to any second half comeback and Castlehaven ran out winners on a score of 2-12 to 0-07 despite the best efforts of Finny Butler, Cathal O' Donovan and Jack Lawton. On a night best forgotten, it was heartening to see a few impressive championship performances from Darragh Holland, Jack Lawton, Andrew and Eoghan Guinivan. Clan na nGael provide the opposition in the back door in three weeks time.
