Ibane MHC

July 29, 2020

Ballincollig were victorious over Ibane in the opening game in the Rebel Óg Premier 1 hurling championship last week on a 1-18 to 0-12 scoreline. Balincollig were the sharper outfit throughout, yet Ibane battled to the very end. They had a lively inside forward in Adam McSweeney and huge energy around the middle third from Conn Dineen, Sean Henchion and twins Fergal and Sean Walsh. Jack Lawton was their anchor in the heart of the backline.

With St Finbarr's and Douglas to come in the remaining hurling group games, it's the turn of the footballers next, who will have played Gabriel Rangers, by the time you read these notes. Team: F Wycherley; M Wycherley, J Moloney, M Ryan; S O'Riordan, J Lawton, C Dineen; S Henchion, F Walsh; S Walsh (0-2), A Guinevan, M Holland; G Sweetnam, A McSweeney 0-9 (0-6 f, 0-2 65),R O'Donovan.

Subs used: P Flynn (0-1) for Sweetnam, T Ó Buachalla for Holland.

Well done also to Ibane U16 footballers who had a fine win in Bandon last Sunday morning. The group now turn their attention to hurling as they play Courcey Rovers in Ballinspittle on Sunday morning at 11.30am.
