Local derby
August 05, 2020
The clash of local clubs, Barryroe and Kilbrittain in Timoleague on Sunday afternoon last kept the restricted number of supporters on their toes throughout the hour as both teams gave as good as they got during a closely fought game in the opening round of the hurling championship. In the end a draw was a fair result and both teams can move on to their next game this week-end with confidence. For the record the final score was Barryroe 0-12 Kilbrittain 0-12.
Supporters at the game gained entry by having their printed tickets scanned by mobile phones. This was a first for the Timoleague venue and the two club members at the gate operating the scanners reported no problems with the new format. This is an idea that should be continued and it avoids the painstaking job of handling money at the gate with a tail-back of cars on the road awaiting entry to the grounds. This is yet another great innovation that has been introduced since the advent of covid-19. All that is needed now is for the numbers at games to be increased from 200 to maybe 500 supporters.
