Intermediate Hurling

Argideen Rangers played their first hurling championship match of 2020 in Ballinora last Saturday evening against Dungourney. The panel has a number of long term injuries which afforded the chance for management to blood new players. The new additions seized their chance with the likes of Jack Lawton, Oisín Dowling and especially Darragh Holland impressing throughout. Argideen started well with their miserly defence keeping their East Cork opponents to one solitary first half point from play with the rest from placed balls. John Michael O' Callaghan and Colin Smith were the two standout performers up front in the first half.
Argideen trailed by 0:09 to 0:08 at half time and started brightly in the second half with Dan Hurley, Bill Fleming and Paudie Butler solid in the back line and Eoin Lawton and Darragh O' Donovan coming more into the game up front. A few goal chances were not taken at crucial times and Dungourney sealed the win with the last puck of the game. Final score; Dungourney 0:17 Argideen Rangers 0:14.
Team; Dylan Harrington, Darragh Holland, Joe Murphy, Daniel Hurley, Jack Lawton, Paudie Butler, Bill Fleming, Seán Maxwell, Cathal O' Donovan, Oisín Dowling, Eoin Lawton, John Michael O' Callaghan, Darragh O' Donovan, Brian Hennessy and Colin Smith. Subs used; Craig O' Brien and Eoin Holland. The team are lucky to have an immediate chance to regroup in their second championship fixture against Kildorrery on Sunday August 9th at 2pm. The must win game takes place in Donoughmore. Supporters will remember a certain Michael Walsh scoring 3:03 from play against Charleville in a 2013 championship encounter. More of the same please on Sunday lads!
