JAFC Win

Argideen Rangers kick started their season with a much- needed win against Clan na nGael last Saturday night in Dunmanway in the Junior “A” Football championship. In damp and muggy conditions, they had reason to celebrate after just one minute when team captain Oisín Dowling billowed the back of the net after good attacking play from Paudie Butler and Darragh O' Donovan. Darragh Holland sliced through the Clan na nGael defence for a fine point to help his side lead 1-3 to 0-3 after the first quarter. Well- earned points by Dowling and Brian Hennessy followed soon after. Smart play by Bill Fleming and Eoin Lawton set up Holland for a peach of a goal to lead 2:06 to 0:5 at half time. Clan na nGael came into the game in the second half, particularly after a harsh sending off for Timoleague, and narrowed the gap to a single point at the three- quarter stage. That's where Argideen really dug deep with Holland marauding forward to curl over the last with the outside of his boot. Final score 2-10 to 1-10. Team; Dan Hurley, Cathal O'Donovan, John Sheehan, Darragh O' Donovan, Seán Maxwell, Andrew McCarthy, Darragh Holland, Paudie Butler, Killian McSweeney, Dylan Harrington, Eoin Lawton, Andrew Guinevan, Oisín Dowling, Brian Hennessy and Bill Fleming.
