IHL V St. Catherines

June 18, 2021

St. Catherine’s made the long visit from east Cork to Timoleague last Sunday morning for the opening intermediate hurling league game of 2021. In glorious sunshine they started brightly to lead by 5 points playing towards the village. The home side finally got motoring and scored some fine points from Darragh O' Donovan, John Sheehan, John Michael O' Callaghan and Seán Maxwell to bring them back into the game. However, the game swung St. Catherine’s way with two quick fire goals in the space of one minute just before half time. Another preventable goal just after half time left Timoleague with a mountain to climb. Superb second half performances from Paudie Butler, Cathal O' Donovan and O' Callaghan helped narrow the deficit to one goal with time almost up, but the points went east on a score of 3-15 to 1-18. Team; Dylan Harrington, Cathal O' Donovan, Joe Murphy, Dan Hurley, Oisín Dowling, Paudie Butler, Ger Crowley, Seán Maxwell, Matthew Lawton, Bill Fleming, John Michael O' Callaghan, Darragh O' Donovan, Finbarr Butler, John Sheehan and Andrew Guinevan. Subs used; Lorcan O' Leary, Brian Hennessy, Eoin Guinevan, Richie Smith and Christy Crowley.
