Cloughduv has fond memories for many Argideen GAA supporters and last Sunday's intermediate hurling championship game against Grenagh was another memorable day out. Argideen started brightly and, just like last week against Kilbrittain, had scored 1-02 without reply. The goal came from a clever cross field pass from Seán Walsh to John Michael O' Callaghn who, despite having plenty to do, was clinical in his execution. The north Cork side came back into the game, mainly through pointed placed balls after the concession of needless frees to leave the half time score at 0-07 to 1-08.
A Grenagh goal five minutes into the second half was quickly cancelled out by a superb Seán Walsh finish to the net after a meandering run. Despite sailing close to the wind on many occasions in the backline and the silly concession of frees, Argideen started to deliver better ball into the forward line. Good play from substitutes Lorcan O' Leary and Seán Henchion along with Fergal Walsh and Darragh Holland helped build a foundation for some great scores from play from John Michael O' Callaghan and Seán Walsh. Final score Argideen Rangers 2-14 Grenagh 1-14. The final round robin game versus Dripsey takes place on October 9th, with the winner progressing to the quarter finals.
