JAFC V Carbery Rangers
October 07, 2021
Argideen Ranger's junior A footballers had a disappointing exit to the 2021 championship at the hands of Carbery Rangers last Sunday afternoon in Clonakilty. The team started brightly with a couple of Oisín Dowling frees, a peach of a point from the outside of Fergal Walsh's boot, and a deflected goal bound shot from Darragh Holland (that went over for a point) to leave the teams level on six points each at the half time whistle.
After a solid opening half, it was the concession of four unanswered points in the third quarter that swung the game in Rosscarbery's favour. Argideen had the numerical advantage after a straight red card for Rosscarbery but scoring chances were hard to come by, save a couple of frees from Oisín Dowling, a great solo effort from Holland and a quickfire point from Lorcan O' Leary. Timoleague threw everything at Rosscarbery (who were now down to 13 players after another straight red card) but were lacking composure at key times as the game finished in a 0-12 to 0-11 defeat.
Team: Daniel Hurley, Cathal O' Donovan, Eoghan Guinevan, Darragh O' Donovan, Finbarr Butler, Darragh Holland, Fergal Walsh, Paudie Butler, Andrew Guinevan, Dylan Harrington, Bill Fleming, Sean Walsh, Oisin Dowling, Lorcan O' Leary and Brian Hennessy. Subs used; Sean Henchion, John Michael O' Callaghan and Colin Smith.
The team will have no time to lick their wounds as Dripsey await in a must win intermediate hurling championship game on Saturday October 9th. Throw in is at 2pm in Ballinhassig, and your support always helps.
