Timoleague Tidy Towns

Members of the local Tidy Towns Association have been of late in and around the village. Though this is a relatively quiet time with regard to work associated with tidy town activity, members are readily identifiable with their hi-viz jackets as they clean and tidy the streets. This week a large number of daffodil and crocus bulbs have been planted in the flower boxes on Church Bridge and The Courtmacsherry Bridge. This year the boxes are covered with fence wire mesh to prevent the crows from vandalising them as they did so expertly last year.

Road Works

Much has been said and written about the general unsatisfactory state of the road network in and around Timoleague over the past year. However, that is changing as we write. A section of the main road from Timoleague to Bandon is presently undergoing major improvement which will benefit the increase traffic flow, especially heavy goods vehicles servicing Staunton Foods and Barryroe Co-Op.

This week, work will begin on the entrance road to the village, along the R600. The road will be re-surfaced from Our Lady’s Well Community Sports Complex to the entrance to the village at the junction to Mill Hill. When that is completed, the road under the Abbey will be next on the agenda. Road users should note that diversions will be in place during this time.It is nice to report on some good news for the area.
