Hurling League
April 18, 2022
Argideen Rangers played two hurling league games in quick succession last week. Dripsey were the visitors to Timoleague on a dreadful night for hurling with the home side winning on a 2-18 to 0-16 scoreline thanks to goals from John Michael O' Callaghan and Lorcan O' Leary. Picturesque Rostellen in East Cork was the venue last Sunday morning with Aghada providing the opposition. Argideen started brightly with points from play for John Michael O' Callaghan (before he left the field injured) Eoin Lawton and Colin Smith. A marauding run from midfielder Darragh O' Donovan earned a penalty, which goalkeeper Dylan Harrington dispatched. Level scores of 1-07 to 0-10 at half time. Facing the strong coastal breeze in the second half and tough opposition didn't hinder the Argideenrearguard with some fine play on the ball from SeánHenchion, Paudie Butler and Colin Smith. Eoin Lawton, now playing in the half forward line, took the game to Aghada and was ably assisted by midfielder Bill Fleming and Lorcan O' Leary at full forward who led the line and scored three fine points to help secure a 1-13 to 0-16 draw.
