Kicking skills winners
June 03, 2022
The final of the under 13 county kicking skills competition was held recently at Pairc Ui Rinn. Young Ibane Gaels players, John Michael Foley, Conrad Murphy and Riley O’Donovan came out on top despite some very keen competition. They qualified for the county final after winning at divisional level. The competition is designed to test players kicking skills off both feet from different angles and distances. The final after some great accuracy from all players was narrowed down to two team, Ibane Gaels from Carbery and Erin’s Owen from East Cork. The only way to separate both teams was by “sudden death” playoff with John Michael, Conrad and Riley coming out on top. All three players have the best of Gaelic DNA. Riley is brother of Cork minor footballer, Olann, who hopefully by the time you read these notes will have helped his team defeat Kerry in the Munster final. Conrad is son of Danny and Cora who need no introduction as both wore the red jersey of Cork with distinction and have a number of All-Ireland medals. John Michael is also steeped in the tradition and the Foley name is associated with Argideen and Cork and All-Ireland medals are also not scarce when one thinks of that clan.
The competition was sponsored by Co-Op Superstores.
