Kate Fleming Communication Award
The annual Kate Fleming Communication Competition was held recently at Timoleague National School. Each year there is keen interest in winning this award which is held in memory of the late Kate who died tragically eleven years ago. This year the competition was open to all pupils of fifth and sixth classes. In the end there can only be one winner and this year’s recipient is Ellen Foley of Mill Street, daughter of Denise and John Michael.
Communication is a skill that is readily associated with the Fleming family and indeed Kate was well versed in that department. She had the best of tutors as her father is a master crafts man in the art of debating and public speaking. Peter and Kathleen Fleming were present on the day to present the award to the winner. The adjudication was in the capable hands of Mrs. Noreen Minihan of Clonnakilty. Also, in attendance was Ellen’s class teacher, Mairead Crowley.
