All-Ireland Success
Alice O’Leary of Carhue, daughter of Camilla and Denis brought All-Ireland success to the locality last week-end when she scooped the best individual performer award in the All-Ireland Transition Year Light Entertainment Competition. Sacred Heart Secondary School, Clonakilty were among some twenty teams throughout the country who took part, beginning with the Cork section. As in all competitions this number was whittled down to four with the Clonakilty school up there with the best. The final took place at The Everyman Theatre, Cork on Sunday night last and Sacred Heart with their production of the musical Oliver emerged victorious, leaving teams from Dublin and Limerick in their wake. All in Sacred Heart are proud of the girls especially M/s Hayes, M/s O’Regan and Mr Brown. Alice was presented with her award by Jake Carter, who was one of the adjudicators. Timoleague readers will remember another Carter brother who performed at The Dome in Timoleague during the Harvest Festival a number of years ago.
Also, in the cast of the winning production were Timoleague girls, Riona Collins, Sarah Harte and Meabh O’Sullivan. Congratulations and well done to all involved.
Hockey Success
On St. Patrick’s Day, Clonakilty Hockey Club ‘s under 18 team travelled to Garryduff to play Limerick Crescent in division 1 . They emerged victorious on a score line of 3-1. Timoleague girls Alice O’Leary, Riona Collins, Sarah Harte and Meabh O’Sullivan played starring roles in this great win. Is there anything that these multi-talented girls can’t do? What an action packed week-end they have had and one which will long be etched in their minds. Continued success to them all.
