League V Russel Rovers
April 07, 2023
Russel Rovers travelled to Lady's Well last Saturday afternoon for a county hurling league match against Argideen Rangers. In glorious sunshine, the teams traded scores in the opening quarter before the home side, playing with a strong breeze, opened up an 8 point to 4 half time lead. Russel Rovers stormed back into the game after half time and the sides were soon level, with Argideen looking for inspiration. Up stepped Darragh O' Donovan with a well won point. Some great work around the middle from Cathal O' Donovan, Conor Lehane, Bill Fleming and Ger Crowley in defence brought the home side back into the game. Second half substitute Paudie Butler, grabbed a puck out and scored a wonderful point before John Michael O' Callaghan sealed the 16 point to 13 point win with a couple of placed balls. Team; Dylan Harrington, Sean Henchion, Ger Crowley, Bill Fleming, Darragh Holland, Matthew Lawton, Colin Smith, Cathal O' Donovan, Conor Lehane, Finbarr Butler, John Michael O' Callaghan, Sean Maxwell, Darragh O' Donovan, Joe Murphy and Lorcan O' Leary. Subs used; Andrew Guinevan and Paudie Butler. There is a break from league action this weekend, before an away game to Dungourney the following week.
