Minister Visits The Hub
The Minister for Employment Affairs and Retail Business, Mr. Neale Richmond visited Timoleague last week. He was in West-Cork for the Easter Week-End and accompanied by Senator Tim Lombard, visited Kinsale, Timoleague and Clonakilty. On his arrival at Timoleague he was welcomed to The Courthouse Hub by owner Paul Crosbie. Paul showed him the wonderful facilities available at The Hub and the minister was hugely impressed. Also present was local councillor John O’Sullivan of Courtmacsherry. The Minister mingled with the locals and surprised many with his knowledge of West-Cork. It seems he is a frequent visitor to Glandore and knows the area well. Paul showed him the mural of Daniel O’Connell’s arrival at Timoleague Courthouse where he successfully defended a number of Whiteboys who were charged with murder. The hand painted mural is by Deirdre Keohane whose art work was featured in The Barryroe Co-Op calendar a number of years ago. The minister, suitably impressed with what was on offer at Timoleague travelled on to Clonakilty where he had a number of other scheduled visits.
Successful Egg Hunt
The young boys and girls of Timoleague parish were treated to an egg hunt organised by the Timoleague and Clogagh Parish Council on Sunday last. Easter eggs were hidden on the grounds of Clogagh and Timoleague Churches. After mass the children went on a trip of discovery on the church grounds as they endeavoured to find the hidden treasure. A great morning was had by all and the weather behaved itself also for this annual fun event.
Music Among The Mosaics
There will be an open day at The Church of the Ascension on Saturday next April 15th. from 2pm to 5pm. Colin Nicholls, a former organist and Master of Choristers at St. Finbarr’s Cathedral, Cork will play the organ, which was installed in 1889. This will be a unique opportunity for people to hear Colin playing this historic instrument in this beautiful church among the mosaics.
An open invitation is extended to all to come and listen. If you have a favourite hymn that you might like to hear played, there will be an opportunity for this and also to sing in an informal setup.
