Timoleague Golf Society Outing
Timoleague Golf Society hit the fairways again on Saturday last after a long absence due to covid restrictions. Some thirty- five golfers travelled to Kinsale Golf Club for a most enjoyable afternoon of golf. Chief organiser, Paul Crosbie left no stone unturned and all were loud in their praise of his attention to detail – a small few even had the audacity to blame him for their poor form on the course.
The results were as follows; 1st. Eamonn, Clare and Eoin Guinevan with a net score of 68; 2nd. Denis O’Leary, Brendan O’Sullivan and Tony Walsh on 68.1; 3rd. Denis Whelton, Noel Coomey and Conor Harrington on 69.2; Best Gross: Mark Lynch, Paul Gault, Aidan Harte and Denis Mc Carthy. Longest drive was Conor Harrington and Conor also won the nearest to the pin with, would you believe it the same club! Shot of the day was by Denis O’Leary who had an eagle on the 7th hole from 140 yds.
At the prize giving ceremony later that night at Pad Joe’s, thanks were expressed to Paul Crosbie, Denis O’Leary, Conor Harrington and Kwack Golf for sponsoring the very generous prizes. Now that a start has been made again after a long hibernation, the society hope to increase the number of participants for their next outing which is planned for Killarney in June. So, dust down the old clubs and go to the driving range!
Stone Signage
Timoleague Tidy Towns have now completed the second part of their signage programme at the entrances to the village. Two new large stones have now been placed on the approach roads to the village from Barryroe and from Courtmacsherry. This brings to four the number of stones that proclaim a cead mile failte to everybody to the village.
A sincere thanks to Micheal and Phyllis O’Mahony who very generously donated the stones from The Bower. Thanks also to John Ml. Foley who cut and erected the stones on site. Finally, none of this could have been undertaken (pardon the pun!) without generous grant aid from Cork County Council.
