First Holy Communion
First Holy Communion was celebrated at Timoleague on Saturday last. The weather was at its best as some 18 second class children received the sacrament. They were joined on the special occasion by their class-mate SadhbhHenbridge. Much preparation was done before the event by their class teacher Suzanne Keohane. Fr. Kingston was on hand to see that they were all made feel at ease and 13 altar servers were on duty on the morning. Music was in the capable hands of Mary Collins.
On Saturday next the second class pupils of Clogagh National School will receive their first Holy Communion.

Tidy Towns
Last week Cork County Council’s road sweeper was in Timoleague and local householders were given notice to keep the streets free of cars and other vehicles as the mighty machine did its thing. All the streets and approach roads were “hoovered up” and the machine did more work in a few hours than the greatest meitheal could hope to achieve at its best. Here’s to modern technology!
Point to Point Success
Local trainer Padraig Butler had a great win at the Clonakilty meeting held at Inchydoney on Sunday last. Imperial Fox had too much in the tank for his race rivals, including a horse trained by the Mullins family. There is one thing about Padraig, he is not lacking in courage in taking on the big boys! Imperial Fox had earlier won at the Killeagh meet in April.
It was nice to hear top jockey Brian Hayes of Ross, who was a special guest at the meeting, talk of his admiration for former local trainer Thomas O’Leary of Castleview. Thomas put him on his way as a young jockey and indeed Padraig also started riding out for Thomas back in his school boy days. Nice to have local talent nurtured locally by a true gentleman.
