The Argideen Rangers Junior A footballers travelled to North West Cork last Friday evening to play Castlemagner in the county football evening. On a balmy and still sunny evening the visitors opened with a fine Darragh Holland point from play. He followed it up with a couple of frees and Bill Fleming also converted a free off his left. Finbarr Butler was unlucky not to get a goal as his shot hit the crossbar and went over for a point. The home side came back into the game and ran at the Timoleague defence and converted a few frees. Failure to win our own kickouts was a major problem just before half time and Castlemager had three quick fire points before the break to lead by 8 points to 7. Argideen had the lion's share of possession in the third quarter but failed to convert this dominance on the scoreboard. It was nip and tuck in a frenetic finish over the last 5 minutes with the sides trading scores. Castlemagner were a point down in the 64th minutes and won a kickout before quickly slotting over the equaliser for a 0-11 - 0-11 draw. Arideen Rangers will travel to Mayfield on Sunday 11th for a Red FM Division 5 county hurling league game. Throw in is at 11:30am with all support greatly appreciated.
