Communication Award Winner
The annual Kate Fleming Communication Competition was held at Timoleague National School recently. Pupils from 5th. and 6th. class took part. Each participant recited a poem and the standard was of an exceptional quality. When all is said and done there can only be one winner. The unenviable task of choosing a winner fell on adjudicator Mrs. Noreen Minihan, no stranger in a situation such as that. This year’s most deserving recipient was Aoife Harte of Ardmore. The award commemorates the late Kate Fleming of Barryshall who was a past pupil of the school.Aoife was presented with her award by Peter Fleming accompanied by his wife Kathleen. Also present was Aoife’s class teacher Mairead Crowley.
Duck Race
The annual Duck Race organised by Timoleague Tidy Towns will take place on Sunday, July 2nd at 5.45pm. This fundraising event is one of two organised by the local committee. Timoleague Tidy Towns Association is a most active organisation and the funds generated will be ploughed back into the locality for the benefit and enjoyment of all.
Ducks can be purchased from this week-end outside Foley’s Centra and at The Cross at the village centre. This novelty event never fails to generate excitement and amusement among the general public and this year’s race will no doubt do the same. Ducks will retail at €5 and there will be a prize fund of €320 on offer, with €150 going to the winner and €100 for second and €75 prize money for the third duck. If you are not in you can’t win!
