Final league match
June 28, 2023
The hurlers of Argideen Rangers travelled to Cloughduv last Sunday morning to play their final league match. With the winner progressing to the league final there was a championship feel to the game as Argideen opened with two well taken Paudie Butler points. Some smart defending by Andrew Guinevan, Ger Crowley and Bill Fleming along with a goal by Joe Murphy meant Argideen had a 4-point lead at halftime, 1-8 to 0-7. Playing with the second half breeze, Cloughduv came back into the game and the sides were level with ten minutes to go. Timoleague weathered that storm and pressed ahead to lead by 2 points with time almost up. However, Cloughduv scored a preventable last-minute goal to seal the 2-16 to 1-17 win and progress. After 9 very productive games, Argideen can be very satisfied with their league campaign and now plan ahead for football championship in late July and the hurling championship in early August.
