Ibane Gaels had an opening round win in the U21 hurling championship against Bandon last Friday night in Ahiohill. A first half goal by Ryan O' Donovan proved crucial in a 1-18 to 1-14 win. It was also welcoming to see Sean and Fergal Walsh back in GAA action. Team: Florence Wycherley, Diarmuid McCarthy, Sean O' Riordan, Mike Ryan, Fergal Walsh, James Moloney, Andrew Guinevan, Adam McSweeney, Tomas O'Buachalla, Mike Walsh, Gavin Sweetman, Ryan O' Donovan, Charlie Dineen, Sean Walsh, Olan O'Donovan. Subs used: Killian Sheehy, Aidan Walsh. The team now face Newcestown in the semi -final on Friday 7th. The game is a repeat of the thrilling final last year that went Ibane's way after extra time. The U15 hurlers also beat Bandon 1-16 to 3-06 last Monday in the championship first round. The U13 hurlers will play Bandon in the league on Friday 7th at 7pm in Timoleague. Ibane's U14s will also look to complete their football and hurling championship double when they play Bandon in the U14 championship on Sunday 9th at 12noon in Kilbrittain.
