Junior Football Defeat
The Argideen Rangers footballers had a bad night at the office on Saturday last when defeat was their lot at the hands of Kilmacabea at Rosscarbery. They began promisingly and carved open the opposition defence on three occasions in the opening minutes but faulty shooting, lacking conviction yielded nada. Instead, it shook Kilmac and they responded with points from almost every attack. Though Argideen did register scores they had to work harder for them and the opposition found it easy to attack through the middle of a somewhat porous Argideen defence.
In the second half Argideen upped the intensity needed and showed more appetite for the contest. However, they were faced with an up- hill battle and did not have enough time to rectify matters. Kilmac picked up the points and Argideen will have some soul searching to do before their next game against Bandon in mid-August. A full report can be seen, if desired, on The Sport Section of this edition.
Hurling Championship
The Argideen players will have little time to lift themselves from the football defeat as they play Tracton in the hurling championship at Ballinspittle on Sunday next at 2pm. Fixtures are coming thick and fast at this stage of the season. They play Erins Own a week later in the next hurling game. It’s a case of getting up on the horse again and riding on!
