Hurling Win
Argideen Rangers had a fine win over Tracton in the opening round of the Premeir Junior Hurling Championship last Sunday in Ballinspittle. They took a while to settle in the first half and scores from play from Cathal O' Donovan, Darragh O' Donovan and, crucially, just before half time, John Michael O' Callaghan and a long range Paudie Butler point. Tracton's half time lead of 12 points to 10 was stretched to 14 -11 shortly after the restart. The full back line of Ger Crowley, Bill Fleming and Sean Henchion were giving nothing away and both midfielders were on top with Darragh Holland chipping in with a point from play. .A monster pointed effort from Matthew Lawton helped rouse the forward line and a superb point from Finbarr Butler helped stretch our lead. It was all Argideen in the last 10 minutes and points from substitutes Billy Foley and Philip O' Flynn were the icing on the cake as we won 24 points to 19. Erins Own are our next championship opponents on Saturday at 5pm in Cloughduv.
Table Quiz
Argideen Rangers GAA Club will hold a table quiz on Tuesday August 22nd at 8pm in Pad Joe’s & Charlie Maddens with teams of four costing €40. All proceeds will go towards The Community Association as they continue to develop our many fine facilities in Timoleague.
Camogie Success
Local camogie star Sinead O’Callaghan was part of the Cork under 14 squad who played in a national blitz in Dublin on Saturday last. On Sunday the team paraded at Croke Park at half time of the senior final between Cork and Waterford. A Cork victory capped off a great week-end for all. Sinead is daughter of Karen and Paul of Ardmore.
