Festival Concludes
Argideen Rangers GAA Quiz on Tuesday night last drew fantastic support from the local community not to mention the surrounding areas. A record number 49 teams took part and were spread out among Pad Joe’s Bar and Charlie Madden’s Bar.The winning team was Bring Back Tubbs; second place went to Number 8 and in third place was Some Team. Plaudits to Eamonn Guinevan who set the questions that won universal approval – a rare feat! A grand total of €2,620 was raised on the night which was presented to the festival committee.
Music on The Street proved a popular event on Wednesday night with Thomas O’Leary. The Monks drew the crowds on Friday night with Pat Fitz doing likewise for a younger audience on Saturday night. Showband Memories featuring Frankie and Keith Mc Donald entertained in The Community Hall on Thursday night, belting out all the old ballroom hits of yesteryear to the enjoyment of an appreciative audience. “Up to 90” played on the street on Sunday night and brought the curtain down on a very special Timoleague Harvest Festival.
Earlier on Sunday night the children were centre stage when they paraded through the village partaking in one of the most popular events of the week, The Childrens’ Fancy Dress.
The organising committee are to be complimented on putting on a programme of events that suited all ages and tastes. They did us proud but then were they not sitting on the shoulders of giants who went before them. Here’s to 2024.
