Tidy Towns Award Ceremony
Fernhill House Hotel was the venue for the presentation of awards for last years competition. As you are already aware, Timoleague was awarded a silver medal in 2022. This was a marvellous achievement for the local dedicated committee and it was a major moral boost to go up the pecking order from bronze to silver. Officers of Timoleague Tidy Towns from 2022 and 2023 were in attendance at the awards ceremony on Monday night last. It was pleasing to have the ceremony so local and to meet up with others who were also receiving their well -deserved awards. This awards ceremony was long delayed and that was a pity as the national Tidy Towns for the 2023 competition will be announced later this month. However, the awarding of a silver medal is a great achievement for Timoleague Tidy Towns and it will no doubt act as a spring board to higher accolades in the future.
The officers were also presented with the County Commended Award for 2022. A big thank you is also deserved for all residents of the village who never fail to put their shoulder to the wheel to ensure that the village is clean and tidy and looking its best for the judging season. Past chairman Donal Barry and present chairperson Valerie Burns deserve special praise for their leadership of Timoleague Tidy Towns and they had as their guest on the night.Ned Long whose work can be seen and admired throughout the village and down The Walkway. All in all, a great team effort by so many people.
