Walkway Fundraiser
A Seven Heads Walkway breakfast fundraiser will be held at Courtmacsherry Hotel on Sunday morning next, Oct. 29th. This popular amenity has been enjoyed by countless walkers and amblers since its first section was opened in 1998. The 42.5km walk around the spectacular peninsula begins at Timoleague and the first section includes the much -used flat concrete walk along the Argideen estuary to Courtmacsherry. This was once the iconic Timoleague and Courtmacsherry Extension Light Railway Line, opened in 1891 which connected both villages.
The Seven Heads Walkway, sections of which now need some attention and some tender loving care, are now being attended to, hence the fundraising breakfast at 10am on Sunday morning next. Tickets can be had from any committee member or locally from Liam Ryan (086) 8319788 or Edward Mc Sweeney (086)8901693.Your support for this worthy project would be greatly appreciated.
Under 14 Ladies Football
Ibane are U14 County Champions following a great display against Mitchelstown in Grenagh. Following a good start, the West Cork team never looked back and lead from start to finish. The score at half time was 3-7 to 2-1. Ibane stayed in control and finished on a score line of 5-11 to 4-3. Scorers on the day Cliona Harte 2-08 (5f) Sinéad O Callaghan 2-01 and Seodhna Walsh 1-2. There were great performances all over the pitch culminating in a great team performance. Captain Sinéad O Callaghan lifted the cup on the day on behalf of a great panel of girls. It has been a great few weeks for lots of the girls following a county final victory the week before for Barryroe Camoige at the same age.
