Milk Award Winner:
Congratulations to Sean, Fiona, Mia and Gemma Deasy of Ahafore on winning the 2023 Carbery Milk Quality and Sustainability Awards recently. Sean is a supplier of Barryroe-Co-Op and to gain recognition as the top milk supplier from a pool of some 1,200 dairy farmers who supply Carbery is indeed a tremendous honour.
It is said that you can’t keep a good man down. Last week on Ear to the Ground, Sean spoke excellently on the programme that dealt with the research being done in the Timoleague Catchment in relation to water quality with particular emphases on nitrate levels which is a serious topic in the farming community at present.
Congratulations are also extended to the Burke family of Ballycatten, Pat, Brendan, Teresa and Vincent on scooping the runner-up award in the same competition making it a one two for Timoleague farmers supplying Barryroe Co-Op and Carbery.
A Glimpse of West Cork:
The pupils of sixth class at Timoleague National School are taking part in The Junior Entrepreneur Programme. As part of the entry, they have completed a project which they are calling A Glimpse of West Cork. This has involved the design and creation of Greeting and Christmas cards which feature delightful scenery from the locality but especially from Timoleague and Courtmacsherry.
These seasonal cards will be on display at the Courtmacsherry Christmas Market which will be held at Courtmacsherry Hotel this week-end, Sunday November 26th.
Festival AGM:
Just a timely reminder from Sean Deasy, the chairman – that man can’t be kept out of the news - Timoleague Harvest Festival AGM will take place at The Community Hall on Tuesday next, November 28th at 8.30pm.
Local Cork Success:
Ibane underage stars, SeodhnaWalsh, Cliona Harte and Shona Fleming were honoured at a prize giving ceremony for the Cork under 14 ladies footballers last week. This team enjoyed tremendous success during the season, though the ultimate goal of an All-Ireland title was a bridge too far on this occasion. Cliona received an All-Ireland runners up medal and Seodhna and Shona were presented with Munster medals. They can look forward with confidence as they grace the playing fields in the years ahead. Well done cailini.
