Table Quiz
Timoleague Educational Garden will hold a fun table quiz in Charlie Madden’s Bar on Friday next, February 9th. beginning at 7.30pm. A raffle will also take place. Tables of four cost €40. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Ploughing Match Postponed
It came as no great shock that the annual Timoleague Ploughing Match did not take place last week. The adverse wet conditions are no great help to competitors who pride themselves in showcasing their ploughing skills for all to see. The Timoleague fixture was only one of many that had to bow to the weather. A more suitable date will be announced shortly.
Tidy Towns Results
The following is a continuation of the adjudicator’s report.
Tidiness and Litter Control: On the day of adjudication, with one small exception at the St Mologa’s statue, Timoleague was litter free. Not onlythat but the streets were clean and free of debris and there was a lack of ‘clutter’ which positively contributed to thespectacular presentation of the village.
The annual National Spring Clean and on-going litter picking by both the committee, volunteers and local residentsare clearly effective. Your new initiative ‘Picker Pals’ is a great idea with a cross generational plan to create abetter environment for a shared future.Well done indeed to all involved. It takes a team effort to ensure there is no litter and it is much appreciated.
Sinéad Barry Memorial Essay Competition
The Sinead Barry Memorial Essay Competition takes place annually for 6th class students of Timoleague National School. It is held to remember past pupil Sinéad who sadly passed away in 2003.
Aoife Harrington of Abbey Street was deemed this year's winner. A pleasant function was held at the school recently where Helen, Jim and James Barry presented Aoife with Sinead’s memorial shield. Aoife’s parents Mary & Fergus Harrington and her grandmother Ann were also present. Sinéad's cousin Brenda and class teacher Anna Hall were also in attendance. Congratulations to Aoife.
