Table Quiz
A very enjoyable table quiz organised by the Timoleague Educational Garden was held at Charlie Madden’s Bar on Friday night last. A total of fourteen tables of four did the needful as Valerie Burns called out the questions. Welcomed refreshments were kindly provided by hostess, Sheila Walton. A raffle for many sponsored prizes was also held. The organisers thanked all who took part and those who very generously donated prizes for the raffle.
Timoleague Lights Up
The concluding night of the very popular “Ireland Lights Up” was held on Monday night last at Our Lady’s Well Sports Complex. Each Monday night up to one hundred people took part in the newly opened walk around the perimeter of the GAA grounds. It has been a resounding success with all age groups participating and from listening to those present, many are going to continue with the Monday night walk, such has been its popularity. We in Timoleague are very fortunate that we have access to many beautiful walks in our locality and the enclosed walk at the pitch is another to add to that impressive list.
Local Racing Success
Local trainer Padraig Butler had reason to be pleased on Sunday afternoon last when Da Capo Glory came third in the Willian Hill Boyle Hurdle at Navan. This 2 mile 5 furlong, Grade 2 race had a top quality field. Da Capo travelled well under JJ Slevin and was disputing the lead at the second last. However, the Timoleague horse was edged out by ¾ of a length to third place on the line. Reports are that the horse may be entered at The Cheltenham Festival in March.

Tidy Towns Report
The following are the concluding remarks from the adjudicators 2023 report on Timoleague.
Residential Streets: The houses throughout the village are a rainbow of wonderful colours, each individual but all complimenting the others. As in every village one or two appear derelict but with the passing of time, no doubt they will be moved on and upgraded. It is understood that the Tidy Towns committee can only do so much to encourage the upgrading of privately owned properties.
Approach Roads, Streets and Lanes:The main approach road is such a lovely drive and arriving to Timoleague, one is struck by how pleasant andnatural the approach is. The new welcome stones, made from local stone, are a great addition on the approach roads and one presumes that they will have some colourful perennial planting in due course. There is extensive vegetation along all of the roads especially at this time of year but none impeded visibility or the signs. The stonewalls with wild flowers popping through them were very effective and residences were very well kept with lovely planting schemes.
Concluding Remarks:This was a first visit to Timoleague for your adjudicator and it was such an enjoyable visit on a sunny afternoon in June. You are to be commended for your excellent work journey and can be justifiably proud of your village. Best wishes in the Tidy Towns competition and keep up the good work.
