World Day of Prayer
A World Day of Prayer ceremony will be held at The Methodist Church, Clonakilty on Friday next March 1st. at 8pm. An open invitation is extended to all to attend.
Tidy Towns AGM
The annual general meeting of Timoleague Tidy Towns will be held on Wednesday, March 6th. It will take place upstairs in The West Wing over the playschool and will begin at 7.30pm. Timoleague had their most successful year ever last year when they received a first gold medal. Now might be a great opportunity for people to get involved in this vibrant community organisation. We are very near the top with regard to marks and an extra strong push is all that is needed to climb even higher. If you feel that you could contribute, you know where to be on Wednesday 6th.
Table Quiz
The Seven Heads Walkway committee are presently up grading and renewing branding and signage on the very popular walkway that was launched in 1998.It begins at Timoleague and follows the old railway line beside the estuary to Courtmacsherry. It continues on through the beautiful picturesque cliffs and shoreline of The Seven Heads to Dunworley and on through Barryscove and Ardgehane and returning via Ahafore and Barryshall before arriving back at Timoleague, an approximate distance of some 42.5km There are many alternative loop walks that one can take if the total route does not suit. All the loop walks are presently being marked and colour coded to guide the walker through the many and varied options available.
The development of the walk initially would not have been possible without the tremendous help and goodwill of the local communities of Barryroe, Courtmacshery and Timoleague and especially the landowners who very kindly gave permission for public access through their lands. A number of fundraising events, most notably a breakfast morning at Courtmacsherry Hotel was enthusiastically supported and very much appreciated by the organisers. A table quiz (tables of 4) will be held at Pad Joe’s Bar, Timoleague on Thursday. March 21st. and this will give an opportunity to the general public to offer their support to the fundraising initiative. Finger food will very kindly be provided by hosts, Tracie and Conoron the night.
