Simcox Cup Final
Clonakilty Community College senior footballers played ColaisteSpioraidNaoimh of Bishopstown in the final of The Simcox Cup on Thursday afternoon last at Pairc Ui Rinn. It was heartbreak once again for the Clonakilty school as they agonisingly lost the game 2-10 to 1-9 despite playing the majority of the second half, a player down. The sides were level on sixty minutes but the city school finished the stronger in added time to claim back -to- back titles. The team contained local Ibane players, Kevin Hennessy at corner back, Daniel Moloney at wing back and James Crowley at wing forward and Olann O’Donovan at full forward.
Ibane Gaels
Despite the bad weather over the past week, Ibane Gaels did play a number of games. The under 16 hurlers went under to a very good Blackrock fifteen at Church Road at the week-end in a Premier 2 league fixture. The under 14 footballers did better with a good 1-7 to 1-5 victory over Canovee at Barryroe in the Rebel Og West Division 2 League.
The under 18’s will play Eire Og in a hurling league game during the week and next week-end the under 14’s travel to Douglas to play the home side in the hurling league on Saturday, April 6th at 3.30pm. On Sunday, April 7th. it’s the turn of the under 13’s who play Inniscarra at Barryroe. Throw in is at 6.15pm.
A check locally would be advised as the weather may play a part in the fulfilling of these fixtures.
