May Bank Holiday Walking Experience
As already mentioned in these notes, the very popular Seven Heads Walk is presently being newly branded and upgraded by members of The Seven Heads Walking Committee. The main walk, The Seven Heads Trail is 30km in length and extends from Timoleague, through Courtmacsherry around the spectacular rugged cliffs and shoreline of The Seven Heads to Butlerstown village before winding its way back to base. There are other shorter loop walks also ranging from 5km to 20km in length where walkers will experience spectacular scenery which includes picturesque villages, sandy beaches, rocky coastlines, beautiful woodland and rich farmland. The development and upgrading of the walks would not have been possible without the tremendous support of the local communities and especially the landowners who very kindly have given permission to walk on their land. The committee would also like to thank the many sponsors and contributors who have supported the project, not forgetting the previous committee who had the foresight to create it back in 1998.
A Bluebell Week-End will be held over the May Bank Holiday to kick start the summer walking season. On Sunday, the walker has a choice of two guided walks. A short family bluebell and garlic walk beginning at Courtmacsherry Hotel at 2pm will explore the magnificent wood which is now in full bloom. After there will be Children’s Story Telling by Angela at The Hotel at 3pm. The more serious walker may be inclined to do The Barreragh Walk which is 9km in length. This will begin at Courtmacsherry Community Centre at 3pm. A BBQ will await the walkers at The Hotel at 4pm. with music from 5pm to 7pm.
On Bank Holiday Monday, there is an Estuary Walk from Timoleague to Courtmacsherry - 5km. The walk will begin on the shoreline near Timoleague Abbey at 11am. Tea, coffee and scones can be enjoyed at Courtmacsherry Hotel at 12 noon. An information talk on The Camino will be held at The Hotel at 1pm. Walkers can then return to Timoleague. There will be music provided on the Hotel grounds beginning at 4pm. The guided walks over the week-end are free and an open invitation is extended to all to attend and partake in this Bluebell Walking Experience over The May Bank Holiday Week-End.

New Defibrillator in Timoleague
Plans are at an advanced stage to provide another Defib in Timoleague. Two are already in place, one located at Foley’s Centra and the other outside The Community Hall. A cabinet has been fixed to the wall beside the public toilets near the estuary. It should be noted that a defibrillator has not yet been placed in this cabinet as the local committee are awaiting delivery.
