Walking Week-End:
There was a fantastic turn out for the Bluebell Walking Festival last week-end. On Sunday the walk through the woods in Courtmacsherry was enjoyed by both young and not so young and the wild garlic and bluebells were a sight to behold. The BarreraghWalk was also very well supported and afforded those taking part an opportunity of enjoying the magnificent views of the estuary and surrounding countryside from one of the most elevated areas of the Ibane Peninsula. There was a BBQ in The Hotel Grounds later which was enjoyed by all. The children were entertained with storytelling and that was a treat well receivedby the young little walkers.
On Monday, some sixty walkers gathered near the shore of the estuary beside Timoleague Abbey and walked to Courtmacsherry in glorious sunshine. There was a welcomed coffee and scones in The Hotel on arrival and a most interesting talk on The Camino de Santiago by Padraig and Grainne, two seasoned walkers of The Camino.
The organising committee would like to thank all those who took part and those who very kindly contributed financially to the Seven Heads Walking Project. The committee have exciting plans in mind to further enhance this wonderful natural amenity located in our local community.
