Road Bowling
There is a full day's bowling on the Courtmacsherry Road this Sunday starting at the Gub and bowling out through Lislee Cross towards Barryroe. This is in preparation for the All Irelands in September. In Barryshall next week, the Senior Men's Championship Score between Aiden Murphy and Martin Coppinger takes place. All are welcome.
First Holy Communion
Twenty pupils of Timoleague National School received their first holy communion at The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Timoleague on Saturday last. While the weather clerk was unkind, none-the-less the communicants and their families celebrated this very important event accordingly. Much preparation was done by class teacher, Susannah Keohane with assistance from SNA’s Helen Crowley and Mercedes Garcia in the lead up to this special day in the lives of the children.
Tidy Towns
Final preparations are underway by the dedicated local Tidy Towns members to ensure that the village looks its best as adjudication approaches. Special thanks are due to the local organisations who came on board as usual to help in the final clean-up over the last two weeks. A project such as this, beings out the best in a community and we in Timoleague are so fortunate to have such active and committed organisations dedicated to the further enhancement of our native place.
Litter Challenge
The annual litter challenge organised by Cork County Council has commenced. This competition is run on an annual basis and villages are monitored on the level of litter encountered by the judges on a weekly basis over a certain period of time. Residents of the village are asked to keep an eye out for any litter that they may observe on the streets over the coming weeks. This anti-litter initiative is of invaluable assistance at this time as the National Tidy Towns adjudication date approaches.
