League Action:
Argideen Rangers played Watergrasshill in their penultimate D5 hurling league game last Sunday morning at Our Lady's Well. Some highlights from the first half included some brave saves and blocks from John Sheehan and the full back line, a long- range effort from centre back Matthew Lawton and another long- range point from midfielder Cathal O' Donovan. Watergrasshill largely controlled possession and the home side were fortunate to be only a goal behind (1-07 to 0-7) at the break. An early second half delivery from Fergal Walsh to his brother Seán resulted in the latter slicing through the Watergrasshill rearguard to allow Finbarr Butler hit the roof of the net with a sharp finish. Some great points from Paudie Butler, John Michael O' Callaghan and Darragh O' Donovan took the game to the men from North Cork, and with 10 minutes to go, Argideen led. However, needless concession of frees allowed the 'Hill seal the win and a valuable two league points on a score of 1-14 to 1-13.Team; John Sheehan, Bill Fleming, Ger Crowley, Fergal Walsh, Andrew Guinevan, Matty Lawton, Dan Hurley, Cathal O' Donovan, Darragh Holland, John Michael O' Callaghan, Philip O' Flynn, Paudie Butler, Sean Walsh, Finbarr Butler and Darragh O' Donovan. Sub used; Conor Lehane. By the time you will have read these notes, the Argideen footballers will have played Canovee in a D7 football league game and will be preparing for an away league fixture against Castlemagner on Sunday 23rd at 11:30am.
