New CEO at Dairygold:
Michael Harte of Skeaf, Timoleague has been appointed as the new CEO of Dairygold. Michael has been Chief Financial Officer with the Mitchelstown based co-op brand leader for many years and has acted as interim chief executive of late. Michael joined the company after graduating from The University of Limerick in Business Studies. He is a Fellow Chartered Management Accountant and has been in various senior financial roles since joining the company in 1989. Michael was an active playing member ofArgideen Rangers GAA and played a leading role with the club when they won the West-Cork Junior 11 Hurling title for the first time, beating Randal Og in Clonakilty in 1985.He is wished well and carries the best wishes of all in Clogagh and Timoleague in his future career.
Annual Duck Race:
The annual fundraising duck race organised by Timoleague Tidy Towns will take place on Sunday evening, July 21st. Ducks are presently on sale and can be purchased from all retail outlets in the village at €5 each. Your support for this fun event is greatly appreciated.
Bowling Notes:
Timoleague bowlers dominated the headlines of late when Geraldine Curtain and Hannah Sexton met in the Senior Ladies Final at Castletownkenneighlast week. Geraldine, the defending champion beat Triona Kennedy of Carrigtwohill at Newcestown in one semi-final and Hannah, the 2022 champion overcame Veronica O’Mahony in the other semi-final at Beal namBlath. Both bowlers live in the townland of Carhue and the clash of the champions aroused great interest not only in Timoleague but throughout the county. The score with a stake of €4,000 was keenly contested as one might expect, andwith both contestants giving of their all, it was Geraldine Curtain who retained her title beating a gallant Hannah by just a metre at the finish line.
Vintage Ploughing and Threshing:
The West-Cork Vintage Ploughing and Threshing working day will be held at Kilavarrig on Sunday, July 21st. A full programme of events will be on offer and it promises to be a great occasion. Further details will be published next week.
