GAA action Aug 3rd

GAA lotto 

There was no winner of the Argideen Rangers GAA club lotto jackpot last weekend at Charlie Madden's Bar. The numbers drawn were 16, 22, 28 and 29. Lucky dip prize winners included: John Burke c/o Frankie Gabriel; Chrissie Murphy, Courtmacsherry; John Joe Butler, Cregane; Olive Giles and Michael Burke, Darrara.

Next week’s draw will take place at Monk's Lane on Sunday night, August 4th at 9pm when the jackpot on offer will be €8750. Tickets at €2 each or 3 for €5 can be bought at Foley’s Centra, Pad Joe’s Bar, Monk’s Lane, Charlie Madden’s Bar, The Brewery Bar or from any club officer. Supporters of the draw are also asked to avail of modern technology by using the club’s on-line link by visiting www.smartlotto.ie where one can avail of the user-friendly website. There is also a link to this site on the club website.


JAFC draw

It ended all square in Rossmore last Friday night in the opening round robin football championship game against Tadhg MacCatharaigh. A great goal by centre forward Seán Walsh was the highlight of the first half. His brother Fergal was bombing up and down the field from wingback and the team were motoring well. A few turnovers in the second half proved costly as the men from Caheragh led entering the closing minutes before John Michael O' Callaghan tied the game at 1-10 a piece. A full report appears in the sports pages. Team; Luke McCarthy, Charlie Dineen, Darragh O' Donovan, Cathal O' Donovan, Fergal Walsh, Matthew Lawton, Finbarr Butler, Ger Crowley, Andrew Guinivan, Charlie Twoomey, Seán Walsh, Sean Maxwell, John Michael O' Callaghan, Darragh Holland and James Crowley. The players will switch to hurling on Sunday 4th with their championship opener against St. Finbarr's at 1:30pm in Belgooly.

Underage GAA

The Ibane Gaels minor hurlers were beaten by Éire Óg 1-19 to 0-23 points in a thrilling game last week in Timoleague.The U16 footballers drew 4-06 to 1-15 against Castlehaven in the championship last Monday. Argideen Rangers U12 footballers will play Ahán Gaels on Saturday 3rd at 11am in Enniskeane.
