New Business Office Opens
While many towns and villages in rural Ireland are witnessing the closure of shops, post-offices and other retail outlets, it is heartening to see that trend reversed in Timoleague. Renewables Ireland has opened a Cork office in the village which was officially opened at The Hub, Mill Street on Friday evening last by Councillor John Michael Foley MCC. Directors of the company were present and were delighted to announce that Sharon Crosbie will manage their Cork subsidiary, Cork Solar which will be based at The Courthouse in Timoleague.

GAA Lottery Draw
There was no winner of the Argideen Rangers GAA club lotto jackpot of €10,250 last Sunday night at Monk's Lane. The numbers drawn were 3, 22, 25 and 26. Lucky dip prize winners included: Teresa Coleman, Shannon Vale; Olan McSweeney, Bandon; Declan Nyhan, Maryboro; Anne & Ned Long, Mill St and Tim O' Regan c/o Brewery Bar.
Next week’s draw will take place at The Brewery Bar on Sunday night, October 20th at 9pm when the jackpot on offer will be €10,400. Tickets at €2 each or 3 for €5 can be bought at Foley’s Centra, Pad Joe’s Bar, Monk’s Lane, Charlie Madden’s Bar, The Brewery Bar or from any club officer. Breakfast Fundraiser
A fundraising breakfast organised by The Seven Heads Walks Committee will be held at Courtmacsherry Hotel on Sunday morning, October 27th at 10am. Funds raised will go to upgrading signage, maps and general maintenance of the many walks in the general Seven Heads area of Courtmacsherry, Barryroe and Timoleague. Tickets at €20 each are available from committee members.
Argideen Rangers Notes
The playing season is tapering off for the Argideen starlets and the boys and girls made the most of last Saturdays glorious autumnal weather. The under 6 team were buzzing around Lady's Well early in the morning whilst their under 8 counterparts travelled to Barryroe for an end of season game. The under 10 footballers were in Bandon to play a mini blitz against the home side and Barryroe with the players pictured below.
The West Cork Junior C football championship begins this weekend with the second string footballers of Argideen drawn in a group containing Tadhg MacCárthaigh, Balinascarthy and Clonakilty. Argideen will travel to Aughaville to play the home side under lights on Saturday 19th at 7:30pm with support appreciated.
Best wishes to the Ibane Gaels minor hurlers and management team ahead of their Rebel Og U18 Division 1 Hurling Championship Semi-Final against Kilworth Araglen Og on this Sunday at 4:30 pm in Bishopstown 4G. Your support is encouraged and greatly appreciated as always.
Clothes Collection
Timoleague Parents Association is issuing an appeal to the general public to raise funds for the school. A clothes collection is being held during the month of October. The drop off points are Timoleague National School or The Community Playschool. A donation to The LauraLynn Children’s Hospice will also be made. Clothing, paired shoes, handbags, hats, scarves, ties, belts, soft toys, clean folded bedding and curtains can all be included. However, people donating should note that duvets, blankets, pillows, cushions, end of life clothing, mobile phones and tablets will not be accepted. Golf Classic
The Argideen Rangers Golf Classic takes place on Saturday October 19th at the stunning Clonakilty Golf Club in Lisselan. Main sponsors of this year's event are Keohane Readymix with a whole host of other local businesses and community members supporting this club fundraiser. Ladies Club Dublin Outing
Twenty-eight members of Timoleague Ladies Club enjoyed a three-day break in Dublin last week. Travelling by coach they were based at The Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire. One of the highlights of their stay was a visit to The Houses of the Oireachtas.At Dail Eireann they were met by local public representatives, Michael Collins TD, Senator Tim Lombard and Councillor John Michael Foley MCC. A visit to Newbridge Silverware, Christchurch Cathedral and Crypt with shopping and walks along the promenade in Dun Laoghaire were also availed of during their highly enjoyable trip.
