Calendar Launch
The Argideen Rangers GAA Club Calendar is a much anticipated publication in recent years and the 2025 edition is no different. It contains a huge selection of recent and older images of club action and is distributed to supporters of the club lotto, free of charge. This is possible thanks to the generosity of local businesses who sponsor its publication, namely; Monk's Lane, Ryan Engineering, Connolly Dairy Services, Arkil, Pad Joe Deasy's Bar, Charlie Maddens Bar, Coolim Construction, Foley Funeral Directors, Bandon Books, Harrington's Pharmacy and Hartes Dental Surgery. The Calendar was launched last Sunday in Pad Joe's Bar where club members had an enjoyable trip down memory lane.
Poc Fada
The annual Argideen Rangers Poc Fada will take place on Saturday 28th of December at 12 noon. Last year forty two teams with participants of all ages combined in teams of three with the aim of hitting the sliothar from Courtmacsherry to Timoleague whilst avoiding the many pitfalls along the way! Many people walked along the route which added to the occasion. All monies raised will be donated to Timoleague First Responders. Participants are asked to gather on the Timoleague side of Courtmacsherry for a 12 noon start on the 28th.
Premier Junior Draw
The 2025 Premier Junior hurling draw took place recently with Argideen Rangers drawn in group three. Opponents will include Milford, Ballygarvan and newly promoted Tracton. The players and hurling management will be very familiar with Ballygarvan (one win and one loss over the last 4 years) and Tracton, whom we beat two years ago.
Seassons Greetings
Seasons greetings are extended to all readers of The Southern Star but especially to those loyal followers of the Timoleague notes. It is always satisfying to receive positive comments on the notes from Timoleague natives who no longer reside here. It serves an important function in communicating all the local happenings to them.
May you all have a happy and a safe Christmas.
