New Timoleague Web Site
The idea of updating the old and dated Timoleague web site has been a hardy annual for some time. Over the past few months, a number of local activists, namely Lorraine Harte, Colette O’Sullivan and Sheila Mc Carthy in conjunction with Kilshinehan resident and information technology specialist Reto have revamped the site. Reto who moved to the area some years ago from continental Europe, has settled in seamlessly among us and has children attending Timoleague National School. The team behind this welcomed initiative tell me that it is a work in progress and that more information together with pictorial images will be added in the coming months. The site can be visited at www.timoleague.net
Kilbrittain Autism Tractor Run
Christmas would not be complete without this fantastic event which is run each year for the most-worthy of causes. The sight of an endless line of tractors on the road from Burren Pier to Courtmacsherry village is a sight to behold as they travel along on either side of the picturesque estuary. Timoleague village was jam packed as the tractors passed on the road beside Timoleague Abbey where a large group of spectators were gathered to view the cavalcade. Vast sums of money have been raised over the past decade by a dedicated committee of great people. They and all those who support the event each year are deserving of thanks and appreciation.
Timoleague Educational Garden
Timoleague Educational Garden has gone from strength to strength since its opening. Some fantastic new events are planned for the coming months. An Oiche Ghaelach will begin on Wednesday night, January 15th. Why not come along for this informal gathering and rekindle the “cupla focal” that may have remained dormant since school days? It will run for eight weeks from 7.30 to 9pm each Wednesday with plenty of “caint agus craic” while enjoying “cupla cupan tae no caife” in between. Don’t worry if you think your Gaeilge is not up to standard. There is no standard required, just imagine that you are starting from scratch!
On Tuesdays, starting on the 14th at 7.30pm there will be arts and crafts for eight weeks.
A book club had been in operation for some time and it has been very successful with a waiting list of people eager to join.
