Hurling League
Argideen Rangers lost their opening hurling league match of the 2025 season, with a 1-12 to 2-5 defeat to near neighbours Barryroe. The match, which was played last Friday night under lights in Cloughduv due to unavailable pitches locally, started brightly for Argideen with a well finished goal by James Crowley after a surging run by Finbarr Butler. Two monster points from Fergal Walsh in midfield were further highlights of the first half, and when James Crowley struck for his second goal shortly before half time, Argideen led 2-04 to 0-8 at the break. That was as good as it got on the night as a disappointing 2nd half contained erratic patches of good play from Matty Lawton, Bill Fleming and Darragh Holland. The panel of players will know there’s much to improve on after this 1-12 to 2-5 defeat. Next up is a home football league game against Castlemagner on Sunday March 16th at 11:30am.
