7 Heads Walkways Quiz
A fundraising quiz in aid of The Seven Heads Walkways will be held at Pad Joe’s Bar on Friday, March 28th. beginning at 8pm. Walkers and motorists will have observed that a large number of detailed colourful maps, way markers and arrows of various colours have been erected around the greater Seven Heads area encompassing Barryroe, Counrtmacsherry and Timoleague. Walkers now have an abundance of choice as to route, direction, distance and area in this picturesque section of West-Cork. The money raised will go towards the maintenance and upkeep of the pathways and boreens along the routes. Last year’s quiz was an outstanding success and an open invitation is extended to all to attend and partake. A raffle for generous spot prizes will also be held on the night.
West-Cork Rally
The ever-popular West-Cork Rally was held over the week-end. Large crowds were treated to some spectacular rallying and Timoleague experienced a surge in crowds as visitors from near and far had a great variety of choice of the different stages which were taking place nearby. Feed back from participants and spectators was exceedingly positive and business owners welcomed the unofficial beginning of the “tourist season”. A new feature of the rally which was introduced last year was the staging of night stages. This was again very popular with spectators and some “unofficial” amateur rally drivers got in on the act also at some well- appointed “secret locations” leaving the evidence to be seen the following morning on the road surfaces. Roll on next year! Â
