Tidy Towns Report ’24 Contd.
Nature and Biodiversity in your Locality: “We noted that throughout the village you have introduced flowers and pollinator planting supporting the ecosystem. The tiered planter by St Patrick's statue is impressive. Well done on receiving a public grant for this feature. The planting within the Railway Park and next to the telephone box is also eye-catching. We are delighted to learn that the school utilises the Education Garden throughout the week. You're receiving strong community support for this project. Well done on getting electricity connected in the cabin recently. We congratulate the school on achieving the Nature Hero Award. This is clearly a proactive school engaging in the Green Schools Flag initiative, the Amber Flag and the Active Schools initiative. The school had all of the flags on display. We are pleased to learn that the educational garden is now part of the All-Ireland Pollinator plan. As previously outlined, it is ideal that the school children are playing such an active part in the Educational Garden. This provides a great learning experience for the children. There are a multitude of activities taking place in the garden including making compost, setting up new recycling areas, demo classes on growing vegetables and flowers and collecting rainwater to reuse to water plants.”
