Tidy Towns
The fine weather brough the crowds flocking to ~Timoleague last week-end. The Walkway to Courtmacsherry is a most popular amenity and being enjoyed by the masses and long may it remain. The local energetic Tidy Towns group of volunteers are busy also as they clean and tidy the streets and approach roads to the village. A number of new flower beds have been planted and areas have been given a face-lift with some walls, gates and railings after receiving a fresh coat of paint. The meitheals continue each Tuesday night but volunteers are free to come at any time that is convenient to do their bit to enhance the area.
The first results of the anti-litter competition have been received and they are encouraging, which makes the efforts of so many people worthwhile.
Greenway Consultation
Further to the announcement some time ago of a proposed West-Cork Greenway incorporation Timoleague, a second consultation which will be in-person will take place at Ballinascarthy Community Hall on Wednesday next, May 21st. from 2pm until 8pm. This event is to encourage stake holders, members of the public and interested parties to view the route options, meet the project team and give them feed- back. Submissions can be made until June 2nd.
Ibane Ladies
Local girls have been hitting the headlines in both camogie and ladies football with Cork of late. On Saturday last The Cork under 14 “A” Ladies football team had a great victory, 3-11 to 0-8 over Meath in the All-Ireland Platinum Quarter Final at Portlaoise. Well done Aibhlin Mc Carthy, Aoife Walsh, Aoife Harte, Niamh Doyle, and Kate Collins and team mentor Mary Harrington.
