Ladies Club Celebrate
Timoleague Ladies Club celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. A number of functions are planned to mark the historic occasion. On Thursday, May 22nd. there will be a mass celebrated by Fr. John Kingston in the parish church at 12 noon where past deceased members of the club will be especially remembered at the ceremony. The ladies will then journey down the estuary to Courtmacsherry Hotel where there will be a special lunch in honour of the occasion. Needless to say, there will be plenty of stories and recollections of past trips and outings fondly enjoyed by the club over the years, mentioned at this gathering. The present officers of The Ladies Club comprise Maria Mc Carthy, chairperson, Sonia Vaughan, secretary, Phil O’Hea, assistant secretary and Mary Mc Sweeney, treasurer. They have been busy over the past few weeks with organisational matters and Thursday promises to be a day of enjoyment and celebration for the club.
Monk’s Lane Honoured
The extremely popular Monk’s Lane restaurant at Mill Street Timoleague has been hitting the headlines of late. It came in for special mention on The Sunday Independent recently by Lucinda O’Sullivan when she highlighted “the colourful bar and restaurant” as a must visit place on a Cuisine Camino from Kinsale to Killarney.
Hot on the heels of this review comes another accolade with Monk’s Lane named as one of the top 101 best restaurants in Ireland in an article on The Sunday Business Post of last week. Since opening Monk’s Lane over 11 years ago, proprietors Gavin Moore and Michelle O’Mahony have worked tirelessly with their wonderful staff to establish their restaurant as one of the top culinary venues in the country. Gavin and Michelle have endeared themselves to the local community since their arrival and their generosity, especially during “The Covid Period” was deeply appreciated. Both as wished well with these awards richly deserved.
