Litter Challenge
Timoleague Tidy Towns received the results after the second round of adjudication recently. There was much overall satisfaction with the marks awarded. This was a major boost to the hard-working members who can be seen out within the village on a daily basis and the it comes at the ideal time as adjudication in the national Tidy Towns Competition usually commences during the month of June. Local organisations have also been helping out over the past few weeks and the committee are extremely grateful for this much needed assistance. Village householders are also thanked for their continued attention to the streets and footpaths in their immediate area.
Timoleague Ladies Club
Members of Timoleague Ladies Club began their 30th anniversary celebrations with mass at Timoleague parish Church at 12 noon on Wednesday last. The mass celebrated by Fr. John Kingston was a celebration of the club’s activity over the past 30 years and a reflection of its impact on the local female community. It was especially poignant as the names of all past deceased members were read out and prayed for.
After the mass a group of some 55 members journeyed to Courtmacsherry Hotel for a well- deserved celebratory meal. Some former members made a special effort to be in attendance and this was greatly appreciated by all present. After the meal they enjoyed the glorious sunshine in the front garden and past trips and outings were recalled and fondly remembered. Little did the founding pioneers who gathered on the 19th. of October at Timoleague Community Hall back in 1994 when some 41 members joined the new club, how vibrant the organisation that they founded would become in the Timoleague locality. As a matter of interest, the first officers of the club elected at that October meeting were: Chairperson: Mary Mc Sweeney; Secretary: Kathleen Hayes; Treasurer: Geraldine Staunton. Ladies of Timoleague take a bow. Here’s to the next 30 years.
